Video – Course / Mobility “Innovative Approaches to Teaching”

Video was filmed in collaboration with the partner ITC International from Prague within the project’s dissemination activities. Video talks about the course visually showing the experiences of Marija Zubak, Education Manager, in Helsinki and the experiences of workshops after the course in Ambitio College. The aim of the participation was to acquire knowledge in the field of innovative teaching methods and transfer the acquired knowledge to teachers through workshops to improve the teaching process with adult learners. This way we educated and motivated teachers to expand and acquire new teaching competencies in this field. To our satisfaction, teachers have shown interest in new workshops which will be held in the future.

The aim of the participation was to acquire knowledge in the field of effective human resource management, rewarding systems, motivation etc., in order to advance and adjust the education and management processes of the Ambitio College.

The aim of the participation was acquire knowledge in the field of using and maintaining the Moodle e-Learning platform in the function of the educational process and to familiarize with other platforms (eg Weebly). This way we educated and motivated teachers to expand and acquire new digital competencies in this field. To our satisfaction, teachers have shown interest in new workshops which will be held in the future.

Third workshop on e-learning

Third workshop on e-learning “Application of E-Learning in Adult Education” was conducted for those teachers – external associates of the Ambitio College who still have not participated on this very useful workshop. The aim of the workshops, as previous two conducted in February, was to strengthen the digital skills and competences of teachers in the field of creating digital repositories of teaching contents in the e-learning system in order to improve teaching of adult learners. The workshop was led again by Zeljka Ciler, coordinator of the Erasmus+ project. Teachers had the opportunity to gradually learn the steps in the process of creating digital repositories of teaching contents in the e-learning system Moodle (various text and video resources using Word, Powerpoint and Internet accordingly). Concept and benefits of using the e-learning system in teaching were also explained.

In a cheerful motivating atmosphere teachers have strengthened their digital skills and competencies that will be able to use in developing not only new digital repositories of teaching contents in the e-learning system online but also in developing them outside of the online teaching system in future.

Second workshop on innovative teaching methods “Written Examination and Knowledge Assessment”

Education Manager, Marija Zubak conducted a second workshop on innovative teaching methods “Written Examination and Knowledge Assessment”. Workshop was conducted in the framework of dissemination activities for teachers – external associates of Ambitio College with the aim of strengthening skills and competencies in the field of innovative teaching methods in order to provide the quality in teaching to adult learners of adult education programs. In addition, the workshop was also attended by the coordinator of Erasmus+ project, Željka Ciler.

This workshop aimed to improve the teaching competencies in the development and assessment of written knowledge tests. Basic concepts in the knowledge assessment, written knowledge examination with an emphasis on objective-type questions, the criteria for assessing written knowledge examination and the rules for their quality development were presented and discussed at the workshop. At the same time, teachers had the opportunity to make an objective-type test, as well as the criteria and assessment method for their creation. Participation in objective-type questions with the creative innovative application of digital skills has motivated teachers to use them for future application in the teaching process.

Teachers learned how to apply appropriate examination techniques with respect to learning outcomes, to create an objective-type tests and to develop creative and innovative ways to examine the knowledge of adult learners by applying digital skills that will be used in teaching in the future.

In a cheerful motivating atmosphere this workshop helped teachers to strengthen their skills in one of the segments of education and motivated them to make positive changes in the way they assess the knowledge of adult learners.

First and second workshop on e-learning

First and second workshop on e-learning “Application of E-Learning in Adult Education” was conducted in the framework of dissemination activities for teachers – external associates of the Ambitio College. The aim of the workshops was to strengthen the digital skills and competences of teachers in the field of creating digital repositories of teaching contents in the e-learning system in order to improve teaching of adult learners. Zeljka Ciler, the leader of workshop, designed these workshops as an interactive joint work in which teachers had the opportunity to gradually learn the steps in the process of creating digital repositories of teaching contents in the e-learning system.

These workshops was focused on explaining the concept and benefits of using the e-learning system in teaching and showing teachers how to create activities and resources for teaching in the e-learning system Moodle. Teachers made various text and video resources at the workshop using Word, Powerpoint and Internet accordingly. They also learned how to create activities like dictionary and test.

In a cheerful motivating atmosphere, teachers learned the benefits of using the e-learning system and acquired new computer skills. This interactive way of conducting the workshop proved to be very successful. This way teachers have strengthened their digital skills and competencies that will be able to use in developing not only new digital repositories of teaching contents in the e-learning system online but also in developing them outside of the online teaching system in future.

First workshop on innovative teaching methods

First workshop on innovative teaching methods “Active Learning in the Classroom” was conducted within the framework of dissemination activities. Teachers – external associates of the Ambitio Collegue participated at the workshop with the aim of strengthening skills and competences in the field of innovative teaching methods in order to provide the quality in teaching to adult learners of adult education programs. In addition, the workshop was also attended by the staff of the Ambitio College.

Prior to the beginning of the workshop, the project coordinator Željka Ciler provided basic information about the project, goals and activities foreseen in the project, activities carried out so far and invited all teachers to participate in the dissemination activities that will be carried out for the next 6 months. After the introductory, education manager Marija Zubak conducted the workshop.

This workshop was intended to improve the teacher’s access in adult education through the use of active learning methods. Workshop covered examples of active learning methods such as learning through play, learning by doing, and learning by research accordingly.

Teachers learned the benefits of using such learning methods and discussed the possibilities of applying them to adult education by highlighting examples from practice and giving ideas that will be used in teaching in the future. Such enthusiasm will certainly contribute to the development of teaching competencies needed in working with adult learners.

Meeting of the project team and employees of Ambitio College – presentation of mobility/course „Human Resource Management” in Prague, Czech Republic

Head of Ambitio College Alen Stranjik presented his impressions and acquired knowledge and skills from the course „Human Resource Management” in Prague, Czech Republic to all employees of Ambitio College.

Implementation of the mobility/course “Human Resource Management“ in Prague, Czech Republic

Head of Ambitio College Alen Stranjik participated in the course „Human Resource Management“ which was held in Prague, Czech Republic from 22nd to 26th of Oct 2018 and organized by project partner ITC International from Czech Republic.

The 5-day course were attended by 16 participants from Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Finland and Portugal. Some of the topics of this course were: leadership and team management, soft skills for the 21st century, coaching and mentoring, how to boost work performance, and how to manage crisis situations, team building activities etc. Upon completion of the course certificates of attendance and the Europass Mobility document were given to the participants.

The course proved to be very interesting and useful for acquiring knowledge and skills in this area. In addition to the transfer of theoretical knowledge, the lecturers also focused on concrete cases of practice, encouraging discussion and exchanging personal experiences from different experiences in education systems in different countries, which enabled the acquisition of specific knowledge and skills.

Learning and exchanging personal experiences in the international environment in the field of human resources management has enabled our head to enhance the competencies, skills and knowledge of human resources management that will be actively applied in his work and he will direct the employees and external associates of the College to achieve strategic goals.

Apart from the course, the participants had the opportunity to get to know each other and exchange experiences from the course through informal gatherings and a tour of the city of Prague.

Participation in this course will enhance the competences, knowledge and skills of head who will actively apply the acquired knowledge and competences in his daily work and guide the employees and external associates of Ambitio College to the achievement of strategic goals.

Education Manager Marija Zubak, a member of the project team and the first participant of mobility/course „Innovative Approaches to Teaching“ in Helsinki, Finland, presented her impressions and acquired knowledge and skills to all employees of Ambitio College.

Implementation of the mobility/course “Using E-Learning Platforms“ in Prague, Czech Republic

Project Coordinator and Administration Manager Željka Ciler participated in the course „Using E-Learning Platforms“ which was held in Prague, Czech Republic, and organized by project partner ITC International from Czech Republic.

The 5-day course were attended by the participants from Slovakia and Romania. Although only 7 participants attended in the course, it was an excellent opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills and exchange personal experiences in the application of the e-learning platforms. The course was lectured by IT teacher Premysl Morgan Vacek and Petr Svejkovsky with many years of IT experience.

The course started with introduction to basics in IT. Hardware, software, digital data storage, document type, etc. were discussed. The difference between vector and raster images were explained, graphical formats were represented depending on the type of storage on the computer, the usage of printscreen options, etc. for online search and online storage applications (Google Drive, MS 365, Dropbox, LMS Systems – Moodle, Edmodo, Canvas, Youtube for education etc.) were shown.

Internet resources were discussed, examples of proper usage of licensed online resources (www.slideshare.net, www.soundcloud.com, …) were displayed, the meaning of embedding and the way of using Web 2.0. were explained. An overview of the basic information about the LMS system – Moodle was introduced, the technical features of the interface were explained. Each participant got access to Moodle’s system so that they could follow the course and do tests upon compleation of each topic. Participants had the opportunity to study and use Moodle from the position of the participants/students and teachers. Lecturers explained the steps in the process of developing a single teaching lesson (containing textual, visual and audio sources) and a knowledge-testing test in a simple way, and each participant had to create a teaching lesson that would consist of 4 parts (three theoretical parts and one test).

Valuable on-line platforms for teaching were displayed and a free web page that can serve as a presentation for school, teaching content etc. Weebly was presented. The steps in the process of designing the page were explained, and each participant had to create own Weebly page.

The last day of the course was aimed to present projects in Moodle and Weebly, and at the same time repeating acquired knowledge at the course. Upon completion of the course, certificates of attendance and the Europass Mobility document were given to the participants.

Socializing with all course participants during lunch break and walk in the city as well as an organized city tour with a tourist guide was a great opportunity to learn about Prague’s history, culture and lifestyles and to develop awareness of the understanding of other people and culture.

In overall the course was very useful, conducted in an interactive way and focused on the individual as well as on the group work. It has enabled the acquisition of new IT skills in the area of using Moodle and other learning platforms, inspired the thinking of learning about advanced tools in Moodle and the development of new teaching contents on that platform for the needs of the Ambitio Collegue. At the same time, Željka has been able to improve the communication and presentation skills and expand the professional vocabulary in English. The knowledge gained at the course will be presented to the staff as well as to the teachers at the Ambitio Collegue, thus transferring knowledge and empowering them for more active use of e-learning platforms. Strengthening their skills will contribute to the quality of teaching that will ultimately have a positive impact on the adult learners.

Implementation of the mobility/course “Innovative Approaches to Teaching“ in Helsinki, Finland

Education Manager Marija Zubak participated in the course „Innovative Approaches to Teaching“ which was held in Helsinki, Finland, and organized by project partner ITC International from Czech Republic.

The 5-day course were attended by the participants from several European Union countries (Portugal, Spain, Hungary, Slovenia, Greece, Bulgaria, Poland, France and Germany). According to the fact that the course was held in an international environment, it was an excellent opportunity for exchanging examples of good practice.

Course was focused on innovative approaches to teaching. Skills needed for active and creative life in the 21st century as well as ways to develop creative and critical thinking as a kind of core skill of the 21st century were discussed. Activities during which the course topic was elaborated included the use of information-communication technologies (QR code scanning applications), stimulating video materials (business and social interdependence, environmental preservation), interesting games (puzzles, quizzes, escape rooms etc.), specific research tasks, teaching activities, use of digital resources, etc. These activities were focused on innovative methods and teaching techniques that can involve learners to the maximum in building their own knowledge.

Task-based Learning and research-based learning, metacognition i.e. thinking about own thinking and learning how to learn through individual thinking, learning styles, and the basics of Bloom’s taxonomy by asking questions at all levels of the cognitive process were also discussed. Peer/collaborative assessment was analysed by designing the assessment (e.g. team work, task execution, vocabulary, etc.) based on the task of storytelling and self-assessment of the checklist. Multiculturalism in the classroom was discussed, and through formative and summative assessment in the participants countries, the role of assessment in different educational systems were recognized and more about other education systems in the EU were familiarized.

Meeting with people of different nationalities and cultures was an valuable experience and very important for the development of intercultural and social awareness. Informal gatherings at lunch with all participants were an opportunity to get to know all of them and to create a contact network of contacts. Organized city tour with a tourist guide had the purpose of getting acquainted with the history, culture and lifestyle of Helsinki, which contributed to the development of awareness on importance of understanding of other peoples and cultures.

Organized visit to the Varia Vocational School in Vantaa Marija had the opportunity to learn more about the Finnish education system and to visit the school itself with useful information on the education programs implemented at school and the specifics of working with students in Finland. It was especially interesting to hear information about adult education in Finland. Use of ICT in teaching were talked about in the school, i.e. the use of ICT for assessment and the development of creative and critical thinking. Numerous web pages, apps and other digital resources that can be used in teaching were presented as a means of acquiring knowledge and skills in a particular area, as well as for the development of digital and media literacy.

Upon completion of the course the certificates of attendance were given to the participants, and Maria also received a Europass Mobility document containing a detailed description of the knowledge, skills and experience gained in mobility that will use in other projects or in proving of professional development.

In overall the course proved to be very interesting and encouraging as it enabled the enhancement of communication skills in English and the broadening of vocational vocabulary. Moreover, new skills and knowledge on innovative approaches to teaching Marija will apply in workshops with teachers in our school and thus encourage them to apply in their classes, which will contribute to the quality of teaching and ultimately have a positive impact on the participants.

Language preparation – Business English (C1-C2) for three participants of mobility 

We have provided the language preparation – Business English (C1-C2) for our three employees/participants of mobility focused on speaking, listening and vocabulary training in the field of education, e-learning and human resource development to enable them to participate more effectively in courses abroad, develop the skills necessary for everyday work and transfer knowledge to other employees, teachers and learners. We also have practiced communication and presentation skills on Business English.

Kick off meeting of  all Erasmus+ KA1 project benficiaries at the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes

We participated at the Kick off meeting of all Erasmus + KA1 project beneficiaries at the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes. Project cycle and agreement obligations, legal and financial aspects of the project cycle as well as the possibilities of dissemination activities were discussed at the meeting. In addition, a small workshop on how to make a dissemination plan was implemented.
